Technology for New Students

Welcome to Dartmouth, we are so excited to have you here!

Please take the time to visit the Student Tech Portal for details on the technology requirements, how to order your computer, and review the tech introduction to ensure you are set up and ready to embark on your academic journey

What is a NetID?

A Dartmouth NetID is a permanent, personal identifier that is uniquely assigned to every individual. It is used to log in to most Dartmouth systems. As an incoming student, you received information about claiming your NetID and password in May. If you have not already claimed your NetID, please do this as soon as you can. If you did not receive the information in May, or are having difficulty claiming your NetID, please contact the ITC Service Desk (help@dartmouth.edu) | 603-646-2999).

Computer Requirements

Dartmouth requires all students to own a computer that meets minimum hardware requirements and works on the Dartmouth network.

It is not required, but we recommend purchasing a computer through The Computer Store. All computers sold through Dartmouth's Computer Store meet our minimum hardware standards. In addition, you'll receive an educational discount when buying through the Store, and can have service covered under warranty performed on campus.
